UK attitudes to immigration: how the public became more positive
The UK public have among the most positive attitudes to immigration, with the country ranked at the top of an international league table as the most accepting of new arrivals.
Out of 17 countries, people in the UK are the least likely to support strict limits or an outright ban on immigration. This high acceptance of immigration in the UK reflects shifting views on whether UK-born workers should be prioritised over immigrants, as well as the public becoming increasingly comfortable with having the idea of having immigrants as neighbours.
